OLSBERG – MTS MessTechnik Sauerland has developed a new belt scale EBW 20-VHD3 with a new 3-load-cell-technology and a new weighing frame for highly accurate measurement. The EBW 20 VHD3 is a built-in–scale for two idlers that can be retro-fitted to existing conveyers and is ideally suited for heavy duty applications.
The new measurement-technology of the VHD3-series enables much higher accuracy compared to belt scales with only one or two load cells resulting on a special designed weighing frame. This technology leads to a different force transmission that allows subsequent high-adjustment of the inner weighing frame. The continual flow of materials on the conveyer results in a pressure load upon the weighing platform, which is recorded by three shear beam load cells. At the same time, the measuring wheel is running simultaneously on the lower belt and records the current belt speed. The weight value of the material on the measuring station and the speed value of the conveyer belt are combined to determine the overall flow rate in tons per hour.
The scale is usually equipped with Vishay load cells but other brands such as HBM and Ulticell can also be used.
A further advantage is the simple control of the adjustment using static weights.
Due to the size of the frame the scale can be used for heavy duty applications and belt widths from 1.200 mm. The load limit value is > 1.000 kg per conveyor belt meter that allows flow rates up to 10.000 t/h.
In combination with a MTS control unit the scale is available with MID (classes 0,5; 1 and 2) approvals in accordance with OIML R50.
Summary of the EBW 20-VHD3 advantages:
- accuracy less than 0,5% possible in heavy duty applications with large belt widths and flow rates
- easy to retro-fit in existing conveyors
- for belt widths from 1.200 mm
- for flow rates up to 10.000 t/h
- belt scale in accordance with OIML R50
- simple control of the adjustment
- very robust
Smaller designs/models of the VHD3 for belt widths of 800, 1.000 and 1.200mm are currently in planning process.
