OLSBERG – The control units ModWeigh starts in a new era. The new ModWeigh series from the scales manufacturer MTS MessTechnik Sauerland GmbH gradually replace the “old” ModWeigh control units. In combination with MTS belt scales or impact scales, the control units are ideally used for dynamic weighing of bulk materials.
Advantage: Now, the control units are available in several versions. So the customer could make an optimal selection – depending on the application and the required function.
Also, plug-in contact blocks simplifie the installation, maintenance and service of all ModWeigh control units.
There is always a modern highly luminous colour display with numeric keys and and softkeys for a modern programmed menu navigation in German or English (other languages in preparation). Both modules have basically the same structure. The modules only differ in the display dimensions (2,8 or 4,3 inch) and the key field. The smaller one has a membrane keyboard for navigation and the larger one has embossed keys.
The softkey function can be customized. So, the control units can optimally configured according to the requirements of the application.
The new ModWeigh series works as usual with a powerful A/D modifier, with a high resolution and adjustable filters that ensure a very high measurement accuracy.
Besides this, the control units of the ModWeigh series are designed to OIML standards.
The control units offer several versions according to customers’ requirements:
ModWeigh FBW core
The cost-effective, but also simplest version is the ModWeigh FBW core. The control unit consists only of the transmitter as the actual weighing process module.
By default, the transmitter provides a digital input, e.g. for external taring and a digital output for freely programmable switching functions as well as serial interfaces, e.g. for printer or PLC interfaces.
The weighing module has a data stick which saves all parameters of the scale. In case of dysfunction of the weighing module, the stick can simply be put into the new module in order to make all scale parameters available (plug & play function).
Optionally, fieldbus interfaces like Profibus DP, Profinet IO, CANopen, Modbus-TPC or EtherNet-IP share the information to modern industrial networks via gateway.
The control units have to be robust against extremely environments, e.g. vibrations or small spaces in mobile screening and crushing plants. The different filters of the ModWeigh control units allow good measurement results with an overall accuracy better than 0.01 %.
The ModWeigh FBW core can be easily connected to an existing ModWeigh colour display, because up to eight transmitter can be connected to one display.
ModWeigh FBW basic
The ModWeigh FBW basic is the new compact control unit of the ModWeigh series, which combines transmitter and colour display in one module. Additional, there are one analog output and one pulse output available.
The graphical 2.8 inch large colour display is easy to use via its keypad with numeric keys and softkeys in German or English.
Optionally, the number of I/Os via the plug-in card are expanded by one analog input and output as well as four digital inputs and outputs. These increases the variability and enables a variety of applications.
ModWeigh FBW comfort
The most comfortable version is the control unit ModWeigh FBW comfort. The control unit characterizes a modular and multi-channel design: the control unit consists of a transmitter, an I/O extension module and a control module with colour display.
Via the I/O extension module are more inputs and outputs available.
Optionally, there are two colour displays available, which can be selected. According to user-friendly settings on the display, the following information can be displayed: actually flow rate, quantity, belt load per meter, belt speed, description of the belt/ scale, time, status messages and additional functions, e.g. quantity pre-selection.
Up to eight transmitter can be connected to one display.
Conclusion
With the new ModWeigh series MTS MessTechnik Sauerland GmbH offers another component in the area of continuous weighing of bulk materials in its delivery program with a good cost-/ performance ratio.
Now, the customer can select the optimal version of the ModWeigh series according to the application and the required function.
The control units provides many advantages in the operation and fault data as well as in the saving and processing of the data and ensures an exact measuring accuracy, reliability and a comfortable operating.
