Description

The CDW from MTS is a conveyor discharge weigher for recording small to medium feed rates of up to 5 m³/h. It is suitable as an addition to classic built-in belt scales and solid flow meters if these cannot be used due to the low feed rate, the bulk material properties or the installation situation. The weighing is static and achieves a very high measuring accuracy of < +/- 1 %.

The conveyor discharge weigher consists of a hopper, a support frame and a discharge flap. The support frame is permanently installed at the discharge point of a conveyor system, while the actual weighing hopper is suspended from three load cells in the frame. The discharge flap is opened and closed via two pneumatic cylinders. The position of the discharge flap is monitored by a proximity switch.

All wearable parts of the hopper and the discharge flap are made of Hardox 400 (HB 400). The scales are equipped with a protective grille for safety reasons.

Functioning

The bulk material is conveyed to the conveyor discharge weigher via a conveyor system, e.g. a conveyor belt or a conveyor chute, and fills the weigh hopper until a preset weight value is reached.

The feed is then stopped briefly. At the same time, the hopper weight is recorded exactly and transferred to the totalizer before the hopper is emptied and the flap is closed again. The feed starts again and the next weighing cycle begins.

The ModWeigh Batch control unit controls the filling and emptying process and evaluates the load cell signals. On the one hand, the ModWeigh records the weight value of the weighing hopper and accumulates the individual batch values in the totalizer. At the same time, the ModWeigh also generates the feed rates in kg/h or t/h from the weight values of the individual batches and the time unit determined for a weighing. The flap is also controlled via the ModWeigh. The measurement data can also be transmitted to the process control system in all standard protocols via a fieldbus interface.
