The IPW S mass flow meter IPW S is used for continuous weighing of free-flowing bulk materials. The product flow is gravimetrically measured and evaluated as the material passes through.
The IPW S from MTS consists of a sturdy housing, a measuring chute with a special mounting system and a measuring chamber. The separation of the product chamber and measuring chamber provides special protection for the weighing system and allows for optional use in dust explosion hazard zones.
The robust mechanics and dustproof housing of the mass flow meter ensure reliability and low maintenance cycles. The height of only 415 mm facilitates quick installation, even in existing and confined conveyor routes.
The IPW S is used for tasks that require precise quantity measurement within a closed conveyor system, for example for
The IPW S works on the principle of centripetal force. The material flow is fed into the measuring chute housing through the inlet funnel. When the material flows onto the curved chute, it is deflected from the vertical fall axis into a circular path. According to Newton's second law of motion, this exerts a centrifugal force on the product, which generates a counterforce - the centripetal force - at the suspension of the measuring chute.
The force is measured by a high-precision strain gauge load cell in the measuring chamber. Compared to impact scales, this measuring principle enables continuous and accurate weighing even of very light bulk solids such as powders or granulates.
The IPW S mass flow meter must be installed in the conveyor system in such a way that a uniform discharge speed of the bulk material is ensured. Suitable types of conveyors are screw conveyors, rotary valves, bucket elevators, vibrating chutes, conveyor belts or scraper chain conveyors.
