Olsberg , September 2015 -One of the world´s leading potash producer called for a tender for the replacement of their impact scales in the different product lines at their largest location.
The MTS Messtechnik Sauerland GmbH from Olsberg got the contract and began immediately to exchange the scales with the MTS impact scales of the IPW 250 series. At the mining the scales are subject to increased wear and tear, due to the high throughput capacity, which can amount to 250 t/h in continuous operation mode, the increased material and ambient temperature as well as the ambient conditions.
The ImpactWeigh 250 is predestined for those challenging conditions. The ImpactWeigh records the quantities during the fall of the bulk material through the scale. Therefore, the ImpactWeigh is particularly suitable for weighing free-flowing bulk materials which are homogeneous in bulk density and grain size. The scales of the IPW 250 series consist of a stable enclosure, the impact plate with a special mounting system and the measuring chamber. The separation of product and meter enclosures secures the weighing system and allows for the usage in dustproof and Ex zones (optionally).
In this particular case, increased demands were placed on the wear protection of the funnel, the scale housings and the actual impact plate. The material guiding area of the impact scales of the IPW 250 series are made of HB 400. In addition, the impact plate as well as the parts, which are heavily stressed by the product, were lined with ceramics and all components were made of stainless steel.
The project included not only the mere delivery of new impact scales, but also the complete installation and re-commissioning.
At the same time, a modernization of the control units were due. For this purpose, the ModWeigh control units were chosen, which communicate with the PLS via traditional analogue interfaces. Access to the operation parameters is possible at any time via additional MW 99 display units.
